Creative and Media Diploma

As you will be well aware, the government initiative to introduce diplomas - a new line of qualifications - is underway. The diplomas provide a series of applied courses for young people which prepare them to join the workforce in a way that our current examinations are not achieving. They also prepare the young people for progression into FE, HE and further training. Diplomas are being introduced side by side with GCSEs and BTECs and pilot schemes have been underway in many areas since 2008. Pupils are now taking the Creative and Media Diploma as an alternative to Media Studies.

Diploma Delivery

Point Blank has been very actively involved in the planning of the diplomas by joining various consortia for their delivery in the following boroughs: Camden, Hackney, Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham, and Islington. Along the way we have delivered several pilot courses for young people, both in schools and at the Point Blank premises, some of which you can find in Case Studies below.

Point Blank’s main strength is that we use active industry experts who work closely with teaching staff within the educational framework. Our courses for young people utilize our many contacts within the creative and media industry to bring in real business participation which is difficult for schools and colleges to achieve in this area, especially with regard to securing placements for 10 days of work experience for each pupil.
