Enrolling now for September 2009, Point Blank, in association with Enfield College, are offering the following two BTEC National Awards at Level 3:

Music Technology (DJ Technology)

Course Breakdown

For 16-19 years old who would like to learn how to use technology to create and perform music whilst studying at our top London music production facility. Delivered in partnership with Enfield College, this Level 3 BTEC National Award can be combined with a National Award in Music (Composing) in the following year to create a qualification equivalent to a BTEC National Diploma. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to take BTECs whilst also being taught by real record producers and sound designers at Point Blank, people that work with the world's leading artists such as Massive Attack, Leona Lewis (former Point Blank student), Groove Armada and Basement Jaxx to name but a few.

Music (Composing)

Course Overview

If you are 16-19 years old, have some musical ability, and would like to learn how to compose music professionally, this course is for you. You'll gain a real insight into the music industry whilst studying at our top London music production facility. Delivered in partnership with Enfield College, this Level 3 BTEC National Award can be combined with a National Award in Music Technology (DJ Technology) in the following year to create a qualification equivalent to a BTEC National Diploma or two 'A' Levels. This is a fantastic opportunity to take your BTECs whilst also being taught by real record producers and sound designers at Point Blank, people that work with the world's leading artists such as Massive Attack, Leona Lewis (former Point Blank student), Groove Armada and Basement Jaxx to name but a few.

Students learn all the skills they need to gain a solid grounding into composing music the industry.

 

Entry Requirements

* Four GCSEs at Grades A*- C or Pass/Intermediate at GNVQ.

* Literacy and Numeracy at Level 1.

* Musical ability/experience will be taken into account at interview.

* Non-EU students call Course Advisor for entry requirements

 

Assessment

You will be continually assessed via tutor observation, including presenting mix CDs, planning projects, keeping daily financial project logs, writing reports and presenting a portfolio of your work. Some of the assessment will be based on videoing your work.

 

Progression

The qualification can lead into either a Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Music Production (which you can also take at Point Blank) or provide the points required to gain access to Higher Education.
