Point Blank, a creative music and arts training provider based in Hackney, has begun innovative work this year offering exciting urban and contemporary music provision into children to children at Hackney Primary schools.
After a hugely successful singing and songwriting project at Daubeney Primary School where 20 children aged 9and 10 created, re-corded and performed their own MCing course and street dance courses.
Young people really want to take part in Point Blank creative music courses. The music created and produced is totally relevant to the music they listen to and therefore our project can engage a much larger group of young people than might want to participate in the more traditional music provision offered by schools. Not only this but the projects we run have shown many other benefits for children (and teachers!) such as improved social and communication skills, better classroom behaviour and a real sense of pride and ownership for children in having created their own creative work.
