Kids get in the groove

It was all hands on decks for youngsters from two Hackney primary schools as they got a lesion in DJing.

MP for Hackeny south and Shoreditch, Meg Hiller, joined children from Burbadge and Sebright primary schools on Monday to see how they will benefit from access to music equipment when the Bridge Academy opens in Haggerston next year.

He new school in Laburnum street will specialise in music and maths and have classes in songwriting, street dance, MCing and DJing for pupils from both primary schools to help forge links in the community.

The event was held by financial firm USB, who are sponsoring the new academy, at their head quarters in the City, along with members of Point Blank, a music training centre based in Penn street, Hoxton, who hold regular youth workshops.
