The launch of a new radio station in Lewisham will give budding youg DJs, musicians and radio presenters the chance to hone their skills. Niall Hampton reports.

Launching a radio station was the clear favourite when Downham’s youth were consulted, with many being firm fans of DJs like Radio 1’s The Dreem Team. The two funding parties then appointed Point-Blank, London’s premiere record production and DJ skills centre, to manage the project.

“They are going to be doing the same kind of things that Radio 1 DJ’s do,” explains Rob Cowan, director of Point-Blank. “It is going to be very high standard of training, from people who have worked on Kiss and Choice FM.
