Sounds like teen spirit.
An online initiative to inspire young musical talent has attracted 31m of government money and the attention of MTV.
Another signatory to the music manifesto, and equality passionate about making this a true opportunity for all, its London- based music production college Point Blank. It, too, teamed up with a technology company as a new way of reaching a younger, wider audience.
Over the past couple of months, Point Blank and mobile phone operator Orange have hosted workshops for 16-21 year olds in London, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow. Selected applicants took part in audio mixing recording, sampling and editing, as well as mobile remixing on Oranges Fireplayer mobile mixing desk. Tomorrow, the best-performing students will have their tracks aired in front of influential industry representatives including label giant Sony BMG.
