
Basildon District Council - Future Sounds

Funded by Youth Music ‘Future Sounds' is an integrated 18-month programme of music-making activities in Basildon, providing more than 100 free places for young people. Students have a choice of seven 30-hour accredited courses with subject including singing and songwriting, music production and live sound engineering. Among the course tutors will be Ian Button, guitarist with the band, Death in Vegas, and Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, Phil Ramocon. Seven promising students will also be awarded a scholarship to study at Point Blank Music College.
In addition, a specific Music Workshop Leadership course will provide Continuing Professional Development for Music Leaders, youth workers, and young people with an interest in peer mentoring. Those who complete the Workshop Skills course will gain further experience as Trainee Music Leaders on subsequent courses.
Kevin Blake, Basildon councillor responsible for leisure, said: “This gives young people a great chance to learn new skills which they can apply in a hobby or future career. They can receive tuition from top professionals who have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry.This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to earn a recognised qualification and get a foot on the career ladder "
