Hackney Youth Service - Young Hackney

A Website 4 Youth!

Hackney Youth Service recently awarded Point Blank a two year contract to:

a) Launch a youth website designed by and for young people in Hackney (www.younghackney.org)

b) Provide web training and feedback sessions on a weekly basis for two years

c) Provide twelve accredited media courses to Hackney's young people

d) Provide progression routes for those participants involved

What's On and Where?

The site will be a hub of entertainment, education and information for the young people of Hackney. You will be able to tap in your post code and find out what events are happening near you.

Weekly Web Sessions

We are holding sessions every week for two years in which young people will voice their opinion on the way the site is going, how it should look and what content it should have. The sessions will also serve as a chance to teach the youth how to contribute to the actual building of the site and especially how to add and edit content.

Remix Machine

We will be including a Remix Machine where you can make your own tracks and download them to your phone to use as a ringtone and social network site where you can listen to everyone else's stuff and rate and comment on it.

Free Media Courses

In conjunction with the website, we are running a total of twelve accredited media courses in a variety of subjects to enthuse young Hackneyites with working in the media. We're offering work placements within our own organisation as an incentive...
