Work Experience

My Work Experience

14 year old Noa Krikler recently completed a week's work experience at Point Blank. This is how she got on in her own words:

How have you enjoyed your time at Point Blank?

I have really enjoyed my time here at Point Blank; it's great to see what goes on behind the scenes in both the Office and the College. I learnt a lot of new skills from taking part in the some of the classes and helping in the different departments around the office. Everyone is really nice and friendly!

What activities have you been involved in?

In the office I helped in different areas from filing and database updates to working in the marketing department by getting links to the Point Blank website from sites such as Facebook and Twitter. I was also checking the course outlines on the website and I wrote a running blog about my time at Point Blank. I took part in various classes including the Singing Course, Music Composition and Sound Engineering. As a singer and guitarist the vocal class and Music Composition class were really interesting as I learnt new techniques such as vocal warm-up exercises.

What was your favourite part of working at Point Blank?

My favourite bit was taking part in the classes, as we don't have the same opportunities at school. The equipment is great we don't have anything like that in our Music dept. When I did the Sound Engineering class we got to use the massive mixing desk and I learnt alot about the equipment involved in recording. I didn't realise how many microphones there were and as I am a singer it was really interesting finding out how trying out different mics can help make your voice sound better.

Would you like to work here in the future?

Working in the office in the marketing dept would be great as a first job, it's a fun atmosphere and everyone's really nice. But as I am a musician I would like to be a tutor more as you get to do what you enjoy everyday.

What are your plans for the summer?

I am going to Holland for a holiday but when I get back I will be going with my friends to the Reading Festival which my Mum isn't to happy about as I am going for the 3 days.

Which artists do you want to see the most?

Any bands really, I like acoustic acts and bands. I would like to see the Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead.
