Case Study: Radio Presenting - Samuel Rhodes School

Point Blank were asked by Islington's 14-19 partnership to deliver a pilot project for Samuel Rhodes Year 10 and 11 students in Radio Presenting and Broadcasting as part of their ASDAN bronze /silver award. Samuel Rhodes is one of the special schools in Islington, each of which provide support for children with particular special educational needs (SEN). Project delivery for this group was extremely rewarding. As well as the development of new technical skills, the all-male group noticeably matured throughout the project. Point Blank enlisted Kiss FM's DJ Big Ted to lead the sessions. His credibility as a radio and DJ celebrity, together with his patience and excellent teaching skills had a marked effect on the entire group. Students gained new skills and were committed and stimulated enough to complete the course with great result.
