Case Study: Engagement Program - Hackney Key Stage 4
Overview
We have been running the Key Stage 4 Engagement Program in Hackney over the last school year. It is accredited by NCFE and is equivalent to 1.5 GCSE's. This programme is a comprehensive introduction to music technology, radio production, entertainment industry and performance and is delivered over 180 guided learning hours, 1 day a week, structured in 3 modules.
Hard-to-reach pupils from several schools in the borough attended classes in Studio 8 every Tuesday and their attendance has been 100%. In addition, each student has achieved the equivalent of 1.5 GCSEs on this program by attending one day per week. This is particularly impressive when put into context: they were not attending school at all prior to this program.
