Case Study: Radio Production - Streetlife FM

For the second year running Point Blank were commissioned to run the RSL (short-term broadcast license) for Waltham Forest community station Streetlife FM. Giving local people the chance to take to the airwaves, this project included training from our industry professionals including Big Ted from Kiss FM, a visit to Choice FM's studios, and regional events where the young people went to the streets of Notting Hill Carnival to interview celebrities like Machel Montano and Lil Rick.
This station acts as a platform for local young people to air their views, while at the same time learning new skills and gaining credible experience for the radio and media industries. That the station was available on FM radio throughout the summer proved to be a major attraction for young people and community members, who contributed in unprecedented numbers. One of the highlights was the regular feature 'Elected Councillors hour', which invited a local councillor to the studio to answer questions from the young presenters and their listeners.
Point Blank also manage the Streetlife FM website during the RSL period, uploading content regularly, Please visit the site and listen online here: http://www.streetlifefm.com/
