Case Study: London Borough of Enfield - Streetbeat
Throughout 2009, Point Blank has been working with the youth outreach programme of London Borough of Enfield to deliver StreetBeat, a series of accredited courses for young people from the area funded by the Arts Council. We provided training workshops in MC Skills and Streetdance at Angel Community Centre where participants learned how to construct good rhymes as well as choreographing and performing a final dance piece.
Another group of young people from Enfield took a Point Blank Music Production course, learning the basics of making beats, sampling, and putting vocals and lyrics to music. The track they created was then used as the basis for a subsequent Music Video Production course, during which the learners devised a video idea, shot the footage and edited the impressive final film which you can watch in the player above.
This is a great example of how a series of complementing Point Blank courses can be knitted together into a longer programme, tailor made for your organisation. This option offers participants a range of creative activities and provides a clear progression route through to a high quality, tangible end product that all involved be proud of.
“I learned how to get involved and showed that I want to be committed.”
“I developed confidence.”
“It was great fun to dance and do excercise at the sametime.”
“I have gained more creative and independence skills.”
